Story
Whispering Circuit 005: Homicide 3 – The unfinished
canvas [part 1]
Synchronizing is late night snack with his case review, Chen thought it was time to get some dessert before opening the third case.
He called out across the night market alley to the drink stand on the other side. “One bubble oolong milk tea, medium sweet.”
Chen found the third body in an art studio. The artist was known for merging technology, creativity, and experience into her art.
Located in the Xinyi district, the art studio embodied the city’s dual heartbeat of tradition and innovation—high tech equipment was intermixed with stone Buddhist sculptures and traditional calligraphy on the walls.
When he entered the apartment, it was eerily silent. Not even the hum of the traffic and crowds of shoppers made its way in. It was as if the apartment was in mourning.
Chen stood motionless over the dead body for several minutes.
The digital artist, or “Synesthesia” as she was called, lay motionless on top of her latest project—a digital canvas that blurred the lines between the virtual and the real. It was unfinished.
Her digital tools and palettes were scattered around the canvas in what looked like a chaotic burst of inspiration.
A quiet voice came from the shadows. “She was onto something…”
Chen turned to the figure in the shadows, the digital artist’s tech-savvy “partner”. He could barely make out her form from the glow of the digital canvas.
“Something about the tech industry…a conspiracy.”
Chen paused to take another bite of the spicy fried chicken.
Synesthesia and CEO Stone were heavily involved in cutting-edge technology. What is the “conspiracy” connecting these murders?
Chen continued to look through the artist’s case file.
